Rabi Lamichhane flown to Pokhara again
Earlier, Lamichhane was interrogated in connection with the embezzlement case involving the Sano Paila Savings and Credit Cooperative in Birgunj.
KATHMANDU: Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) President Rabi Lamichhane has been taken to Pokhara once again.
Former Home Minister Lamichhane was transported by air via Simara to Kathmandu before being taken to Pokhara on Wednesday. He was brought to Kathmandu on a Buddha Air flight.
Earlier, Lamichhane was interrogated in connection with the embezzlement case involving the Sano Paila Savings and Credit Cooperative in Birgunj.
Authorities have also taken statements from Lamichhane regarding the misuse of depositors’ funds in several cooperatives, including Surya Darshan Cooperative in Pokhara, Supreme Cooperative in Rupandehi, Swarnalaxmi Cooperative in Kathmandu, Sahara Chitwan Cooperative in Chitwan, and Sano Paila Cooperative in Birgunj.
Lamichhane, who was arrested on October 19 from the party’s central office in Banasthali, is being investigated on charges of cooperative fraud, money laundering, and organized crime.
Following Lamichhane’s transfer to Pokhara, RSP held a protest in the city.
According to police, the investigation into Lamichhane is now in its final stages.
