Westerly winds affect country, cold worsens in Kathmandu
Many areas in the Terai and valleys are witnessing fog, with some places experiencing dense mist.
KATHMANDU: The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology’s Weather Forecast Division has reported that the country is currently experiencing a partial impact of westerly winds.
According to the division, the hilly regions of Koshi Province are experiencing partly cloudy weather, while the rest of the country remains mostly clear. Many areas in the Terai and valleys are witnessing fog, with some places experiencing dense mist.
During the daytime, Koshi Province is expected to remain partly cloudy, while other regions will have mainly clear weather. By night, Koshi, Madhesh, and Bagmati Provinces will see partial cloud cover, with clear skies anticipated in the rest of the country.
In the morning, fog and mist are likely in many parts of the Terai and valleys, potentially impacting daily life, transportation, and aviation. The department has urged the public to take necessary precautions.
Cold Increasing in Kathmandu Valley
The cold continues to intensify in the Kathmandu Valley, a trend that meteorologists predict will persist. Despite the chilly temperatures, the weather is expected to remain clear.
Meteorologist Rojan Lamichhane reported that the minimum temperature in the Kathmandu Valley was recorded at 4°C this morning, rising to 5°C currently. The maximum temperature today is expected to range between 17°C and 19°C.
The department’s regular weather bulletin indicates a partial influence of westerly winds, with partial cloud cover in Koshi Province’s hilly regions. The rest of the country remains mostly clear, though many parts of the Terai and valleys are experiencing fog and mist.
This afternoon, Koshi Province will continue to see partly cloudy skies, while the rest of the country will remain clear. By night, partial cloudiness is expected in Koshi, Madhesh, and Bagmati Provinces, with other regions enjoying clear weather.
The department has warned that morning fog and mist in the Terai and valleys could disrupt daily life, transportation, and aviation operations, urging all concerned to plan activities accordingly.
