KATHMANDU: The 12th Nepal Human Rights International Film Festival, which kicked off today, features 53 films from 23 countries.
In addition to the screenings, various side events, including seminars and discussions, will be held to promote human rights.
The theme of this year’s festival is “Social Justice,” according to Pandav Khatri, President of the Human Rights International Film Centre and Festival Director.
Khatri emphasized the participation of internationally recognized films, noting that the festival has been consistently organized to highlight and promote human rights-related films.
Films such as All We Imagine As Light, The Man Who Could Not Remain Silent, The Outrun, and Anaar Daana, which have been awarded at prestigious film festivals like Cannes and Berlin, are among the festival’s key highlights.
The four-day festival will be attended by film industry professionals from Nepal, Pakistan, Bangladesh, and India. Screening venues include the Film Development Board’s meeting hall and the Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) auditorium.
The Human Rights Film Centre, established in 2009, organizes this annual event.
