Chhabilal Joshi brought to Chitwan for statement, Lamichhane to follow
KATHMANDU: Former DIG and ex-operator of Gorkha Media Network, Chhabilal Joshi, has been brought to Chitwan today for a statement regarding alleged embezzlement at Sahara Chitwan Multipurpose Cooperative Institution, according to police reports.
Joshi, who was in custody at the Kaski District Police Office, was transported to Chitwan for this purpose. Superintendent of Police (SP) Gautam Mishra of the Chitwan District Police Office informed Makalu Khabar that Joshi, along with Ram Bahadur Khanal, has been brought to Chitwan for interrogation.
Following their statements at the District Government Attorney’s Office, both individuals are expected to be sent back to Pokhara.
SP Mishra also mentioned that Rabi Lamichhane, president of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) and former Home Minister, is also expected to be brought to Chitwan for questioning.
On Nov 20, a complaint was lodged by depositors against Lamichhane and 10 others, accusing them of embezzling funds from the Sahara Cooperative Institution.
Currently, investigations are also underway against Lamichhane regarding financial irregularities at the Swarnalaxmi Cooperative Institution located in Kalimati, Kathmandu.
