Guptill’s half-century leads Biratnagar to set 128-run target for Janakpur
After losing the toss and being invited to bat, Biratnagar managed to score 127 runs in their allotted 19 overs.
KATHMANDU: In the opening match of the Nepal Premier League (NPL) on Saturday, Biratnagar Kings set a target of 128 runs for Janakpur Bolts, thanks to a half-century from opener Martin Guptill.
After losing the toss and being invited to bat, Biratnagar managed to score 127 runs in their allotted 19 overs.
Guptill completed the fastest half-century in NPL history in just 36 balls, hitting 7 fours and 1 six in his 55-run knock off 43 balls.
He was dismissed by Janakpur’s Harsh Thakur, caught by Anil Shah.
Aqib Ilyas contributed 15 runs from 18 balls. Despite being in a strong position at 76/2, Biratnagar lost the remaining 8 wickets without adding much to the score.
For Janakpur, Lalit Narayan Rajbanshi made a strong debut in NPL, taking 3 wickets in his first over.
Kishor Mahto and Harsh Thakur each took 2 wickets, while Ben Mike and Mohammad Mohsin claimed 1 wicket each.
