Writ filed in SC against decision to drop charges against Former Minister Adhikari

KATHMANDU: A petition has been filed in the Supreme Court challenging the decision of the District Government Attorney Office in Kathmandu not to pursue charges against former law minister Lilaballabh Adhikari.
Senior advocate Dinesh Tripathi filed the writ petition today, demanding that the decision be annulled and that further investigation be conducted to file charges against Adhikari.
Adhikari, who was arrested in Japan on charges of human trafficking, was released from custody last Monday following the decision of the Kathmandu District Government Attorney Office.
Eleven other individuals have been named as defendants in the case, with charges already filed against them at the Kathmandu District Court.
Adhikari, a member of the CPN-UML provincial parliament, was arrested on Nov 10 for allegedly using fake documents to take unrelated individuals to Japan.
