Mahindra Agni Group joins as main sponsor for Karnali Yaks in NPL (with photos)
The agreement was signed by Anar Jhnakdatt Khanal from Karnali and Vice Chair Veda Satasha Shrestha from Mahindra, confirming Mahindra as the main sponsor of the team.
KATHMANDU: A formal agreement was signed today between Himalayan Builders Pvt. Ltd., the owner of Karnali, and Mahindra Agni Group.
The agreement was signed by Anar Jhnakdatta Khanal from Karnali and Vice Chair Veda Satasha Shrestha from Mahindra, confirming Mahindra as the main sponsor of the team.
Karnali’s marquee player is Sompal Kami, an all-rounder from the Nepal national cricket team.
The team’s head coach is Gyanendra Malla, former captain of the national team.
The foreign players on the team include former Oman captain Zeeshan Maqsood, Hong Kong’s Babar Hayat, West Indies’ Chadwick Walton, and India’s Shikhar Dhawan.
Walton, Hayat, and Maqsood have already arrived in Nepal, while Dhawan is expected to arrive this evening.
Other players in the team include Gulshan Jha, Dev Khanal, Nandan Yadav, Arjun Gharti, Rit Gautam, Mausam Dhakal, Bhuwan Karki, Deependra Rawat, Unisvikram Singh Thakuri, and Deepak Dumre.
Karnali has also selected Bipin Prasad Sharma as an iconic player from the Talent Hunt. Unis is currently playing in the UAE’s U-19 team at the Asia Cup.
Additionally, Karnali Yaks has appointed actress Swastima Khadka as the “Face of Karnali Yaks.”
The Nepal Premier League (NPL), organized by the Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN), will feature eight teams: Karnali Yaks, Kathmandu Gorkhas, Lumbini Lions, Pokhara Avengers, Chitwan Rhinos, Biratnagar Kings, Janakpur Bulls, and Sudurpashchim Royals.
The opening match of the tournament will be played on Nov 30 between Biratnagar Kings and Janakpur Bulls.
