KATHMANDU: Himalaya Airlines, a private-sector airline, has stopped selling high-priced “Y class” tickets following public complaints about rising airfares for international flights.

The “Y class” represents the highest fare within the normal economy class category.

The airline stated that this decision aligns with directives from the Ministry of Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation, as well as an agreement among all international airlines operating in Nepal.

Additionally, the airline has suspended all group TBA bookings and instructed travel agents to sell tickets at minimal profit margins.

Himalaya Airlines clarified that it sets ticket prices based on seat capacity and has been regularly cautioning travel agents to prevent black-market ticket sales.

The Tourism Ministry has urged airlines to sell tickets at the lowest possible rates.

In compliance, Himalaya Airlines has submitted a detailed breakdown of minimum ticket prices, current fares, surcharges, and ticket costs provided to passengers.
