KATHMANDU: Four individuals remain missing after being buried in a landslide at the Upper Tamakoshi Hydropower Project, located in Lamabagar, Bigu Rural Municipality-1, Dolakha district.

The landslide occurred on Saturday morning, burying a two-story building used to control the dam gates.

Among those missing are two personnel from the Nepal Army’s Garud Battalion, Narendra Bahadur Pal and Shankar Chand, and two project employees, 35-year-old Krishna Prasad Chaudhary from Pratappur, Nawalparasi, and 30-year-old Jayaram Tamang from Syalu, Bigu Rural Municipality-1, Dolakha.

Chief District Officer of Dolakha, Tuvaraj Pokharel, stated that rescue teams have been unable to reach the site.

“The shift change for the staff occurred around 10:30 AM, and the incident took place around 11:00 AM,” Pokharel said. “Two Nepal Army personnel and two contract employees responsible for gate operations were reported buried in the landslide.”
