Former Gorkha Media Director Joshi remanded for additional 7 days in custody
Joshi, who was arrested from Shankhamul, Kathmandu, on Sunday, was taken to Pokhara on the same day.
KATHMANDU: Former Director of Gorkha Media Pvt. Ltd. and ex-DIG Chhabilal Joshi has been remanded in custody for an additional seven days, as approved by the District Court of Kaski.
Joshi, who was arrested from Shankhamul, Kathmandu, on Sunday, was taken to Pokhara on the same day.
The following day, he was presented before the court, which initially granted police permission to hold him for five days to conduct further investigations. His arrest is part of an ongoing probe into the alleged misappropriation of funds from a cooperative organization.
A special parliamentary investigation committee led by Surya Thapa had earlier submitted a report to the government recommending legal action against Joshi, along with Chair GB Rai, former Managing Director Rabi Lamichhane, and Kumar Ramtel.
On October 2, a Cabinet meeting decided to implement the committee’s report, paving the way for further legal proceedings.
