KATHMANDU: The Kathmandu District Police Office has unveiled a special security plan targeting the upcoming festive season.

The security plan was made public during a press briefing held on Friday.

The police have outlined several areas that will receive heightened security, including local residential areas, places with high financial transactions, bus stations for inter-district travel, vacant homes, government offices, and crowded markets.

The police also mentioned that security personnel will be deployed at ATM booths, goat markets, jewelry stores, religious sites, shrines, temples, bus ticket counters, bus parks, and bus stops.

Speaking at the event, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Basanta Rajauré stated that the police are fully prepared to provide security in all necessary areas. He emphasized the commitment to ensuring the safety of both individuals and property.

SSP Rajauré added that security arrangements will be made at temples, religious shrines, and festivals. He assured that police patrols will be active in crowded areas, especially at banks and financial institutions, to maintain security.

Furthermore, he highlighted that the police are attentive to managing ticket sales fairly and will assist in ensuring the availability of adequate public transportation and smooth traffic operations.

The police also addressed concerns regarding possible vandalism of public property and pickpocketing in busy marketplaces, ensuring that security forces will be deployed in such areas.

Patrols will also monitor ATM booths, safeguard jewelry stores, and provide security at temples and shrines.

SSP Rajauré mentioned that special security measures will be in place for VIPs visiting shrines.

Additionally, police will be deployed at goat markets to prevent incidents of pickpocketing, goat theft, quarrels, fraud, and disputes.

To avoid overcharging, theft, and conflicts at bus ticket counters, the police will set up passenger assistance centers to manage security at these locations, he further informed.
