Kathmandu Mayor questions PM: Was your intelligence lacking at that time?
Mayor Balen criticized Oli for not appealing a court decision that was made before he took office as mayor.
KATHMANDU: Mayor of Kathmandu Metropolitan City, Balendra Shah (Balen), has once again expressed his anger towards Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli.
Mayor Balen criticized Oli for not appealing a court decision that was made before he took office as mayor.
He pointed out that at the time of the decision, KP Sharma Oli was the Prime Minister, Dormani Poudel was the Chief Minister of Bagmati State, and Bidhyasundar Shakya was the Mayor of Kathmandu. The court had ruled to extend the standards for riverbanks in Kathmandu by an additional 20 meters. “Why didn’t they appeal back then?” questioned Mayor Balen. “Should we say they lacked the wisdom back then, or should we say they have a different agenda now?”
He also referenced an old Nepali saying, “The mother-in-law passed away long ago, and now they are shedding tears,” to illustrate how this behavior is damaging the country. Mayor Shah emphasized that the Supreme Court’s decision and the government’s recent actions have exposed this destructive attitude.
