Captain Anjila to play professional football in Europe

KATHMANDU: Nepali National Women’s Football Team captain and goalkeeper, Anjila Tumbapo Subba, is set to play professional football in Europe.

She has signed a one-year contract with Greek Women’s Super League club, NIS Atromitos, for the 2024-2025 season.

This will be Anjila’s first time playing in a league outside of Asia. Expressing her excitement about this achievement, she said, “I’m playing in a European league for the first time, and I’m really happy. It’s every player’s dream to play in Europe, and after two years of continuous efforts, my dream has finally come true.”

Anjila is affiliated with the APF (Armed Police Force) team.

Previously, Sabitra Bhandari, also from APF, became the first player to play in Europe.

Anjila has also played professional football in India and Pakistan.
