KATHMANDU: The National Cooperative Savings Protection Campaign (Federation) staged a human chain demonstration in Kathmandu on Thursday.
Victims participating in the protest expressed frustration over the government’s repeated failure to implement agreements made to address their issues.
Despite multiple assurances, they claim that the government has not taken action.
Protesters, who covered their mouths with masks and black tape as a form of dissent, have been continually rallying for the government to honor its commitments.
They accuse the government of insensitivity and demand the return of their cooperative funds. Their slogans included demands such as “Return our cooperative funds,” “We did not place our money in cooperatives due to a lack of space at home,” “We pay taxes, where is the protection of our savings?”
The demonstration, which involved forming a human chain, highlights the ongoing discontent and calls for immediate action from the government.
