KATHMANDU: Renowned actor Rajesh Hamal, known as the ‘Mahanayak’ of Nepali cinema, has been appointed as the brand ambassador for Rathicol, a major product of Rathi Group.

Press conference held on Tuesday at the five-star Marriott Hotel in Kathmandu, Rathi Group Chair Arun Kumar Rathi and actor Hamal signed the agreement.

Over the next year, Hamal will promote RathiKol through various advertisements.

Upon appointing Hamal as the ambassador, Chair Arun Kumar Rathi expressed that the ‘Rathi’ brand has always respected Hamal’s exceptional legacy in the film industry.

Welcoming Hamal as the brand ambassador, he expressed confidence that this collaboration would align well with the great actor’s commitment to Nepali cinema and society and Rathicol’s commitment to excellence.

Chair Rathi highlighted that Rathicol is a leader both in terms of quality and production.

“Today, millions of craftsmen trust and use this product, and thousands of vendors sell it. Being continuously used for the past 35 years is no small feat. We have successfully established Rathicol in the market amidst competition from foreign companies,” he said.

“Just as Rajesh Hamal has been the number one actor in Nepali cinema for decades, he is number one, and so are we. Our work is to connect, and by connecting Hamal with this brand, we aim to inform those who are unaware of Rathicol.”

Hamal, referring to Rathicol as a ‘National Pride’, stated that it is a matter of pride for all Nepalis to have such a high-quality product made in Nepal. He mentioned that he agreed to be the ambassador only after being convinced of its quality, noting, “I first learned about this brand from an interesting advertisement many years ago, and it has remained in my mind since then.”

Speaking about his association with RathiKol, Hamal said, “I am very happy to be associated with this brand at this point. It is an honor to collaborate with a brand that has established trust among consumers. Not only did I seek out this brand, but this brand also sought me out. I am grateful.”

Rathicol CEO Yogesh Rathi noted that both Hamal’s film career and Rathicol’s production journey span 35 years, indicating a long-term collaboration.

The Rathi Group has a history spanning 130 years and is generally known for switches, cables, bulbs, hardware, and Rathicol.

Rathicol, one of Rathi Group’s main products, is a quality adhesive primarily used in woodworking for making furniture. It is also used in other framing works and has been in the market for the past 35 years. Rathicol has the largest adhesive factory in Nepal.

Its main slogan is ‘Tascha Majjaley Tascha (Sticks Wonderfully). Rathicol’s products include premium wood adhesives, economical wood adhesives, cyanoacrylate (super glue), craft adhesives (non-toxic), transparent adhesives, industrial adhesives, silicon acetoxy cans and pouches (neutral), masking tape, duct tape, EVA foam tape, carton tape, double-sided tape, among others.

These products have reduced the import of brands produced by foreign companies, significantly contributing to the country’s economy.

The press conference was attended by Rathicol CEO Yogesh Rathi, Head of Sales and Marketing Ridhim Shah, and others.
