Sokla Tourism Development Society and Mounted Guide Association of Nepal (MOGAN) have cleared three routes and put them into use after six months of research.

The festival was organized with financial assistance from the Nepal Tourism Board and technical assistance from the Mounted Guide Association of Nepal (MOGAN).

According to the Sokla Tourism Development Committee, there are plans to keep this cliff open after the festival and use it as a training ground for the Nepal Police and Army. “It’s not just for the festival day; we’ll train locals and bring domestic and foreign tourists here,” says Arjun Pakhrin, president of the Sokla Tourism Development Society.

He says, ‘This festival has been organized to inform that there is a rock climbing spot in Dolakha and to make it the main destination for rock climbing near the capital.’

For rock climbing, one climber climbs by tying a rope in a harness around his waist, another skilled person climbs with the help of a rope below.

According to Sanjiv Gurung, president of the Mounted Guide Association of Nepal (Mogan), a technical sponsor of the festival, ‘As of this rock climbing area near Sokla village, work should be continued forward to create a homestay in Sokla village.’
