KATHMANDU: Urmila Aryal was elected unopposed as the National Assembly’s Vice Speaker.

Ganesh Prasad Timilsina, the Speaker of the National Assembly, announced on Monday that Aryal had been elected unopposed, stating that she was the only candidate.

Aryal was elected to the National Assembly from Madhesh State in 2078 Magh.

She left the CPN-UML in 2069 and joined the Maoist Centre.

A 66-year-old Aryal has a master’s degree in sociology.
