Vaishnav, a priest, arrested on charge of forgery

KATHMANDU: The Mahottari police arrested Jagannath Das Vaishnav, a priest from Matihani Guthi in the Mahottari district, on a fraud charge.

He is accused of withdrawing Rs 7 million from Mega Bank by forging the signature of the district’s assistant chief district officer.

According to Superintendent of Police Krishna Pangeni, he withdrew the money from his government-banned account at a bank branch in Rupandehi.

Vaishnav, who was detained at the Laxmi Narayan monastery, was transferred to Rupandehi for further investigation, he said.
