After 36 years, history repeated itself in Dhanusha, the Mahaseth couple won election together (with photos)

KATHMANDU: Hem Bahadur Malla, also known as Dhanusha ‘Sher Dhanusha’ during the Panchayat period, has passed away. He died 12 years ago i.e. in 2068. But the Hem Bahadur discussion is far from over. When the election comes, Hem Bahadur’s name will be discussed.
The main reason for this is that Hem Bahadur 2043 of the then Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) succeeded in electing his wife Sharada Malla over Dhanusha. In that election, he secured 93,149 votes and set a record by becoming a Rastriya Panchayat member.
That is why the Dhanusha people dubbed him ‘Sher Dhanusha.’ He became known as ‘Sher Dhanusha’ throughout the country, not just in Dhanusha. At the same time, he was appointed Minister of Agriculture. No couple had won directly from Dhanusha since the election in 2043. After 2036 years, Raghubir Mahaseth and his wife Julie Mahato, i.e. the Mahaseth couple, have succeeded in making history like the Malla couple.
Raghubir was victorious from Dhanusha 4 and his wife Julie was victorious from Dhanusha 3. They were both candidates for the UML. Julie had JSP’s support. Raghubirr defeated Nepali Congress co-general minister Mahendra Yadav, the ruling coalition’s common candidate, without the support of other parties.
