MANILA: Philippine troops killed six suspected rebels in a clash Thursday in the country’s southern Sultan Kudarat province, the military said.
In a report, the military said the fighting broke out around 5:30 a.m. local time while an army battalion was conducting a security operation in Bagumbayan town where a dozen of suspected armed men were hiding.
The report added that the troops retrieved six bodies from the clash site after the 24 minutes of clash. They also recovered assault rifles, including three M-16 rifles and an AK47 rifle, and assorted ammunition.
The fighting broke out a day after army troops killed six rebels in a military assault on a rebel hideout in the Northern Samar province on Wednesday.
