KATHMANDU: Many people wear the crimson tika, which represents an auspicious period, and the jamara, which represents prosperity, on the main day of Durga Paksha as Navadurga’s Prasad.

The dignitaries today receive prasad, which has been worshipped for nine days in the Dashain House or pooja room. According to the Nepal Panchang Adjudicatory Development Committee, Tika Prasad is best received around 11:51 a.m. The committee’s chair, Srikrishna Adhikari, advised the general public not to hunt for a time to acquire tika today as Vijayadashami itself is an auspicious day.

Adhikari says, “The state administrator should apply tika on the day itself. When the state administrator applies the tika on an auspicious day, it is given bas there is a scriptural word that the lord, mantra and energy will be obtained. By putting the tika on the day itself, the power of the goddess will be obtained”.

Today, Nepalese put the tika that was kept using a gada (clay pot) on the day of Ghatasthapana. Today, on Ashwin Shukla Dashami, people happily celebrate Vijayadashami by presenting Tika, Jamara, as an offering to Durga Bhavani. Those who do not pray today are entitled to take Tika from the holy people till the conclusion of the Kojagrat Purnima sacrifice.

The deity will be submerged today at 10:34. She was called upon in the place where the committee had kept and installed the Jamara.

On the day of Vijayadashami, since the moon is in Capricorn today, people who want to put tika should go sit to the West, Prof. Dr. Devmani Bhattarai, a theologian and member of the committee, says. There is a classical belief that the one who puts the tika should sit to the east. He told that this should be done because it is auspicious to face the moon to the right and to the front. The direction of return of the inoculated person and the recipient will be determined based on the zodiac sign of the moon until the full moon day.

From today till Purnima, when Tika is accepted as Prasad of Durga from the dignitaries, along with other flowers, the yellow Jamara placed according to Vedic method is considered as a symbol of prosperity. The fact that Jamara works as a medicine for various diseases has been scientifically confirmed. Due to the spread of COVID-19 and dengue infection, Ayurveda doctors say that consuming Jamara juice will increase the resistance to disease.

Worship is done before offering tika and prasad from the dignitaries today, as there will be peace throughout the year after ablution with the water of Purna Kalash, which was established on the day of Ghatasthapana. Vijayadashami is the most important day of Bada Dashain, which is celebrated as a symbol of the victory of truth over falsehood and divine power over demonic power.

It is religiously believed that the celebration of Vijayadashami was started from that time as Lord Rama won the victory over Ravana, who became the symbol of falsehood, during the Treta Yuga. Therefore, today is also considered as a symbol of victory.

By receiving Tika, jamara and prasad and also blessings of Nava Durga Bhavani are taken from the hands of dignitaries, elders, guru purohit, grandfather, grandmother, father, mother, dear people so that they may get fame, prosperity, increase in working ability and long life.

Blessings are given with these mantras when tika is worn on Vijayadashami:
