75 thousand soldiers to be deployed in elections

KATHMANDU: Seventy Five Thousand soldiers will be mobilized after President Bidya Devi Bhandari decided to mobilize the army for the security of the upcoming federal and state elections on Nov 20.

Following the announcement of the integrated election security plan by the Ministry of Home Affairs, the army will now be deployed to secure airports, prisons, and other important structures across the country.

The army will guard the polling place after the government decided to mobilize all three security agencies in order to conduct the election without fear.

For the security of the polling place, the government will deploy Nepal Police, Armed Police Force, and Madi Police from the interior.

According to Nepal Police spokesperson Deputy Inspector General of Police Tek Prasad Rai, Nepal Police will deploy 71 thousand 631 personnel and 1 lakh 15 thousand regular policemen for election security.
