KATHMANDU: Due to heavy rains on Tuesday night, the Bhaktapur Manohara squatters (people with no legal ownership of land) settlement was inundated.
Around 800 of the 880 squatters’ houses on the banks of the Madhyapurthimi Municipality-1 Manohara river were flooded.
Locals claim that when the squatters’ settlement was inundated, the clothes, food, and other goods inside the houses were destroyed, and the chickens and ducks were washed away.
They complained that the state did not care about them after the flood entered the squatter’s settlement.
