KATHMANDU: Cholera outbreak is on the rise in Kathmandu Valley. Cholera has been confirmed in eight people as of Friday evening, according to the Division of Epidemiology and Disease Control.

Cholera has been confirmed in the districts of Bagbazar, Dilli Bazar, Ghattekulo, Budhanilkantha, Kapan, Sanepa, Balaju, Balkhu, and Thankot. said Manisha Rawal “Cholera is about to break out in the valley,” she said, adding, “Similarly, if cholera continues to spread, we must be aware of the danger that may arise.”

Eight people have been admitted to the hospital as of now. Cholera is thought to affect only one out of every ten people. More than 100 cases of cholera have been reported in the Kathmandu Valley, according to public health experts.

According to Dr. Chumman Lal Das, the department’s director, the fact that the source of the infection has not been identified or the presence of cholera patients in numerous locations is a sign of cholera spread. The source of the cholera outbreak has yet to be determined. ‘If that resource could be identified, it could be avoided and controlled,’ explained Dr. “Cholera is spreading in new places every day, and it won’t be long before it becomes an epidemic,” Das said.

The government has urged the World Health Organization (WHO) and UNICEF, as well as the Kathmandu Metropolitan, to work together to combat cholera. Even though the local level has been asked to conduct awareness programs, cholera control is seen as difficult in Kathmandu, where waste management has not been fully implemented and water is scarce.
