Nepalgunj Sub-Metropolitia announces Rs 1.63 billion budget

NEPALGUNJ: The Nepalgunj Sub-Metropolitian in Banke has presented a budget of over Rs 1.636 billion for the upcoming fiscal year.
The budget for the fiscal year 2079-80 BS (2022-23) was presented by deputy mayor Kamaruddin Rai during the 11th town assembly of the sub-metropolitian on Thursday. Along with the budget, the policies and programmes for the new fiscal year were unveiled on the occasion by mayor Prashant Bista.
While presenting the new policies and programmes, mayor Bista pledged to establish Nepalgunj as a prosperous and happy city for dwellers within the next five years and operate literacy classes targeting the illiterate population above 15 years of age.
As per the policies and programmes, the conservation, promotion and beautification of the historic Bageshwori Temple will be accelerated by establishing the Bageshwori Area Development Trust and the focus of the local government will be on the conservation and protection of various religious sites: temples, mosques, churches and monasteries in the town to promote religious tourism.
In addition to this, the local government is to take initiation for upgrading the Ranjha Airport into an international airport. It has adopted the policies for systematized urban development, land management, youth and sports development, good governance and institutional development.
Distribution of identity cards for farmers, development of pocket areas for agricultural products and livestock, management and operation of animal ambulances, and production and supplies of hygienic dairy and meat products would be the priorities of the local government.
Cooperative policy, forest and environment conservation, disaster management policy and the protection of consumer welfare are among the policies of the local government.
