UML wins in Gokarneshwor 7, Congress retains lead in mayor-deputy mayor

KATHMANDU: MAY. 18 – Keshav Gurung of the CPN-UML won Gokarneshwor Municipality Ward No. 7 with 488 votes.

Gurung defeated his nearest rival, Nepali Congress candidate Kumar Aryal, by 38 votes.

The UML won the chairmanship and one open seat in the ward, but Congress took the remaining three seats.

Deepak Kumar Risal, the Congress candidate for mayor from Ward 7, secured 519 votes, falling 120 votes short of UML’s Uddhav Bista.

Shanti Nepal of the Congress candidate for deputy mayor secured 537 votes, defeating Sannani Lama of the UML by 110 votes.

With a total electorate of 1741, 1351 votes were cast in this ward.
