Businessman Thapa wins Cricket Association chairmanship, cricketer Shakti Gauchan loses

BHAIRAHAWA: JAN. 20 – Hari Bahadur Thapa, a businessman, has been elected chairperson of the Rupendehi Cricket Association. Thapa won the election with 64 votes during the association’s fourth convention in Bhairahawa. Shakti Gauchan, a cricketer who is vying for chairperson, received 40 votes.

Thapa is a businessman of auto, hotel, house and land and school. Gauchan, who has played for the national cricket team for a long time, is now running a cricket academy in Bhairahawa. Thapa and Gauchan were competing in the election of the cricket association by forming a panel.

Dhiraj Adhikari Chhetri has been elected as the Vice-chairperson, Sanjay Gurung as the Secretary and Niraj Pratap Khan as the Treasurer.

Uma Adhikari has been elected unopposed as the female member of the association while Bharat Thapa, Bijay Singh Gyawali, Punit Pokhrel, Nirakar Panta, Sheshmani Chaudhary, Pratham Parajuli, Manoj Bhandari, Uday Kumar Malik, Kamal Pandey and Shri Ram Nepali have been elected as other members.
