KATHMANDU: JAN. 7 – The UCPN (M) Central Committee meeting has been postponed. On Jan 9, the UCPN (M) held its tenth Central Committee meeting. The meeting, however, was postponed as soon as the leaders were confirmed to be infected with COVID-19, according to UCPN (M) office secretary Shri Ram Dhakal.

According to one of the leaders, 15 leaders have tested positive for COVID-19, including Matrika Yadav and Haribol Gajurel, and eight have shown symptoms of infection. “COVID-19 has been confirmed in comrades including Matrika and Haribol,” the leader stated. “In that scenario, we must be cautious.”

Six UCPN (M) office secretariat members have also tested positive for COVID-19. According to the leaders, the UCPN (M) Central Committee meeting would most likely take place only after the National Assembly election.

Previously, a meeting to elect office bearers on December 26 had postponed the election by appointing just Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ as chairperson.
