KATHMANDU: JAN. 7 – The visit of Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba to India, scheduled for Sunday, Jan 9, has been canceled. The Prime Minister’s visit has been canceled after the Gujarat government of India announced the cancellation of the Vibrant Gujarat Investors Conference due to the high rate of COVID-19 transmission in the state.

He was scheduled to attend the 10th Vibrant Gujarat Conference in Gujarat, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s home state. A meeting of the Council of Ministers on Wednesday had decided that Prime Minister Deuba would visit India from Sunday. The visiting team would consist of 25 people, according to reports.

The visit was canceled on Thursday, according to the Foreign Ministry, due to the risk of infection with COVID-19. This was his first visit to India since he was last appointed Prime Minister.

The Prime Minister was scheduled to visit Gujarat to attend the 10th Vibrant Gujarat Conference, which would begin on Jan 10 in Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s home state.

During the visit, Prime Minister Deuba was scheduled to hold talks with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
