Baniya wins Congress Kathmandu presidency

KATHMANDU: NOV. 29 – Krishna Sabuj Baniya has been elected as the president of the Kathmandu District Working Committee under the upcoming 14th General Convention of the Nepali Congress. Sabuj defeated his opponent Upendra Karki by a margin of 868 votes.

He got 1957 votes while Karki got 1089 votes. Raj Kumar Nakarmi and Gokarna KC have been elected as the vice-president while Indra Bahadur Thapa and Govinda Pudasaini have been elected as the secretaries.

Similarly, Rommel Shrestha and Amita Pradhan have been elected as Nepali Congress Kathmandu joint secretaries. Voting for the district president was held in Kathmandu on Sunday.
