India’s target of 284 runs against New Zealand

KATHMANDU: NOV. 28 – India have set a target of 284 in the first Test of the series against New Zealand. After losing 7 wickets in the second innings on the fourth day and scoring 234 runs, New Zealand reached the target of 284 runs. India scored 345 in the first innings while New Zealand were all out for 296.

Batting in reply on the fourth day, New Zealand lost 1 wicket for 4 runs till the end of the day’s play. New Zealand’s Tom Latham 2 and William Sommerville are unbeaten on zero runs. Now, on the fifth day, New Zealand needs 280 runs to win.

On the fourth day, Wriddhiman Saha played an important role in handling India’s innings. Wicketkeeper-batsman Saha completed his half-century off 115 balls. He scored 61 runs off 126 balls. He shared 67 runs with Akshar Patel for the eighth wicket. Axar played an innings of 28 runs off 67 balls.

Shreyas Iyer, who hit a century in the first innings, also looked in rhythm in the second innings. Iyer played a half-century innings of 65 off 125 balls. Iyer also became the first Indian to score more than 50 runs in both innings of his debut Test.
