Free medicine for high blood pressure and diabetes to senior citizens

LALITPUR: OCT. 22 – The Godawari Municipality is going to distribute medicines for high blood pressure and diabetes free of cost to the senior citizens here. The municipality is going to provide the assistance keeping in mind the condition of the citizens of that age.

According to Rewati Raj Karki, chief of the health department of the municipality, medicines for high blood pressure and diabetes will be distributed free of cost to people above 70 years of age in Godawari from Sunday to next Monday.

He said, “We are trying to end the situation where the elderly people have to depend on their families for the medicine they need to take daily. We will distribute the medicine purchased for this work for the first time by the municipality to every citizen.” Karki informed that the work will be done in every ward of Godavari from 11 am to 3:30 pm.

The municipality has requested that every citizen must bring an open government identity card of 70 years of age to take the medicine. While presenting the policy and program for the current fiscal year 2078/79, Godawari had made public the plan to ensure the distribution of free medicine for the chronically ill in the city as well as the provision of essential health items.

Similarly, the municipality will continue to provide free health care to the elderly at Bajrabarahi Chapagaun Hospital, establish a dialysis center for kidney patients in the city and provide free sleep and social security allowance to the citizens and pregnant women and maternity women in each ward for three months.
