KATHMANDU: SEPT. 26 – Chitwan Rhinos have made a winning start in the fourth edition of the Everest Premier League (EPL) in Kathmandu. Chitwan defeated Biratnagar by 2 wickets in the first match of the day at TU Ground, Kirtipur on Sunday.

Batting first after losing the toss, Biratnagar scored 151 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in the stipulated 20 overs. After a poor start, Biratnagar was led to a moderate score by Sikandar Raja. Raja scored 67 off 47 balls to save the team from collapse but there was not enough target for the victory. Only three players scored double runs for him. Anil Sah scored 32 runs while Saurabh Khanal remained unbeaten on unbeaten 30-run innings.

Sompal Kami, Kamal Singh Airee and Karim Janat took 2-2 wickets each for Chitwan while Shahab Alam took 1 wicket.

Chitwan, who started the reply innings, lost eight wickets with the last ball remaining. Bhim Sarki contributed 30 runs while Ishan Pandey was out for 10 runs. Similarly, Karim Janat scored 19 runs.

Similarly, Sompal Kami was out for 9 runs. Rajesh Pulami proved to be the hero in the victory of Chitwan. He contributed an unbeaten 43 runs to ensure the victory of the team. When he needed one run in the last ball, he hit a four to give Chitwan its first victory. Sikandar Raza and Karan KC of Biratnagar took 2-2 wickets apiece.
