Gandaki government’s ‘honeymoon period’, no excitement

POKHARA: SEPT. 20 – A new government has been formed under the leadership of the Nepali Congress by overthrowing the UML government in Gandaki on June 12. The Maoists, Janamorcha and JSP are supporters of the government. Independent MP Deepak Manange joined the new government and became the youth and sports minister for the third time.

The Gandaki government has crossed 100 days. Although some work has been started, special plans and programs that the citizens can experience have not been passed. The government is busy with daily activities. There are five ministers from the Nepali Congress, four from the Maoists and one from the JSP. Jana Morcha has only given support.

The government has done some good work in making the state human-free, bringing revival programs to revive businesses in crisis from COVID-19, treating breast and uterine cancer of women, free treatment of the injured and victims of the people’s movement, relief and flood and landslide victims. The government is emphasizing providing immediate relief to the landslide victims, distribution of COVID-19 vaccine and staff management.

Besides, there is not much to do. At the beginning of the monsoon, Rs 500,000 was disbursed at all local levels for flood and landslide management. It has decided to provide relief at the rate of Rs 1 lakh per household for the reconstruction of houses completely damaged by floods and landslides.

It has been announced to provide relief at the rate of Rs 1 lakh per house to the victims whose houses in Manang have been completely damaged. State offices have been opened at the district level.
