KATHMANDU: AUGUST 24 – The Election Commission has fixed the time for the registration process of the Madhav Kumar Nepal Group’s CPN (Unified Socialist) and the Mahanta Thakur Group’s Democratic Socialist Party.

Spokesperson of the commission Raj Kumar Shrestha informed that the party leaders should sign the agreement in person from 11:30 am to 2:00 pm on Wednesday. “The Election Commission has called the leaders of both the parties for identification tomorrow,” Shrestha said. Identification begins at 11:30 in the morning.

According to the ordinance on political parties, 20 per cent of the members of the federal parliament or central committee should be for party registration. Nepal has applied for the registration of the CPN (Unified Socialist Party) by splitting the UML. Baburam Bhattarai-Upendra Yadav faction has registered a new party.

Last Friday, both the parties had applied to the Election Commission for party registration.
