International Regional Airport under construction in Pokhara [Photos]

KATHMANDU: AUGUST 1 -Now the construction of the airport has reached the final stage. The construction time has been extended by six months due to COVID-19 infection and lockdown. A total of 3,106 ropanis of land at Chhinedanda was acquired in 2032 BS for the construction of the airport.

Later, 629 ropanis and then 48 ropanis have been acquired. It is said that the land will have to be acquired as the airport will be narrow and more infrastructure will be required. However, the construction company has not made any public statement about it.

The construction of the airport has started with loan assistance of Rs 22 billion from the Chinese Exim Bank. Due to geography, large jet planes cannot come here. The Rithepani hill in Pokhara-26 has been cut as it is uncomfortable to fly.
