5.6-magnitude quake strikes off western Indonesia

JAKARTA: JULY 10 – An earthquake with a magnitude of 5.6 hit Indonesia’s western province of North Sumatra on Saturday, the Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency said here.

The quake struck at 9:41 a.m. local time, with the epicenter at 75 km northwest of Nias Utara district and the depth at 10 km under the seabed.

The quake was not potential for a tsunami.
