Murder of a woman in Balkhu, body found inside a bag

KATHMANDU: A woman has been killed in Balkhu. The body of a woman was found packed in a bag in a squatter settlement on Monday evening.

The body belonged to 33-year-old Santoshi Shrestha Sapkota, said SSP Ashok Singh of Kathmandu Metropolitan Police. The locals had informed the police after seeing blood flowing from the bag.

Santoshi’s husband Santosh Sapkota has gone missing after the police reached the spot. Police suspect that he was involved in the murder. Police suspect that Santoshi may have been killed due to a family dispute.

After not having a good relationship with her husband, Santoshi started living in Maitighar Jorpati. According to police, Santoshi was stabbed in the head in her own room.

The body was found packed in a bag and dumped near the house. The body has been sent to TRI Teaching Hospital, Maharajgunj for postmortem. Police are searching for the suspect’s husband, SSP Singh said.
